Organized by \u00a0SBPC\/ML<\/a> and Controllab<\/a><\/i>, the initiative solidifies the institutions’ commitment to improving healthcare sector quality and efficiency.<\/em><\/p>\n

On Saturday, November 25th, 2023, the 1st Laboratory Microbiology Indicators Forum<\/strong> took place. The event gathered expertise aimed at enhancing performance management to improve patient services and ensure sustainability within the laboratory sector.<\/p>\n

This pioneering initiative convened specialists from the field, sector companies, and technology firms to discuss indicator proposals facilitating the monitoring of strategies, financial management, processes, technical quality, personnel and resources management, patient outcomes, epidemiological aspects, and other relevant dimensions in the microbiological field.<\/p>\n

Microbiology plays a crucial role in clinical settings, providing essential insights for medical practices and patient outcomes. It significantly impacts physician and patient satisfaction, thereby contributing to a laboratory’s reputation and sustainability in its sector of operation.<\/p>\n

During the forum, a group of microbiology experts from leading laboratory services across Brazil volunteered to collaborate on developing indicator proposals for this segment of laboratory medicine.<\/p>\n

Key experts and their respective participating institutions included: Cesar Alex Galoro (Former President \u00a0SBPC\/ML<\/a><\/span> and Grupo Sabin<\/a>), Andr\u00e9 Doi (Scientific Director SBPC\/ML and Hospital Albert Einstein<\/a>), Alessandro Silveira (FURB<\/a> and \u00a0Genolab<\/a><\/span>), Ana Paula Cury (Hospital das Cl\u00ednicas SP<\/a><\/span>), Carlos Eduardo Domingos (Diagn\u00f3sticos do Brasil<\/a>), C\u00e1ssia Zoccoli (DASA<\/a> and BrCAST<\/a>), Danielle Doro (Sabin<\/a>)<\/span>, D\u00e9bora Krenke (DASA), Giselle Cortivo (Mercolab<\/a>), Iara Santiago (Laborat\u00f3rio S\u00e3o Paulo<\/a>), Jorge Sampaio (BrCAST and \u00a0USP<\/a><\/span>), Keite Nogueira (UFPR<\/a><\/span>\/\u00a0Hospital das Cl\u00ednicas PR<\/a><\/span>), Luis Henrique Guimar\u00e3es (SBM<\/a><\/span> and Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo \u2013 FFCLRP<\/a><\/span>), Mara Elisa B. Lemo \u00a0(Fleury<\/a><\/span>), Mireille Sousa (Hermes Pardini<\/a><\/span>), Paula Koga (Hospital Albert Einstein<\/a><\/span>), Pedro Peloso (Rede D\u2019Or<\/a><\/span>) and Soraya de Andrade (AFIP<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

The event commenced with an opening address by Dr. Alex Galoro, former president of SBPC\/ML and current coordinator of the Technical-Scientific Committee on Indicators at the institution.<\/p>\n

Discussions were moderated by microbiologist Carmen Paz Oplustil (Formato Cl\u00ednico<\/a><\/span>) and Fernando Berlitz, Manager of Indicators and Accreditation at Controllab. They were supported by the Controllab team (Fernanda de Paula, Juliana Tobler, Rafael Balthazar, Rafael Lopes, Shirley Lima, Thiago Saturnino, and Vin\u00edcius Biasoli).<\/p>\n

The forum also featured the participation of relevant entities and companies, including: \u00a0Luis Henrique Guimar\u00e3es (SBM<\/a> <\/span>President), Josely Chiarella (Technical Director CBDL<\/a><\/span>), Andre L Santos (BD<\/a><\/span>), Karime Borges (Sarstedt<\/a><\/span>), Juarez Cunha (Plastlabor<\/a><\/span>), Luana Massi, Ruan Fernandes e Samir Weres (bioM\u00e9rieux<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

To facilitate automatic data capture, ensuring greater efficiency and information security, the forum benefitted from the expertise of technology firms endorsed by SBPC\/ML and Controllab: Durval Bel\u00e9m (Karyon Consultoria<\/a><\/span>), Carlos Lachter (HTS High Tech Systems<\/a><\/span>), Lukas M Christensen e Marcelo Carbonari (Matrix Sistemas<\/a><\/span>) and Anderson Luiz Ferreira (TCM Inform\u00e1tica<\/a><\/span>).<\/p>\n

Forum participants invested their time and expertise towards proposing indicators that aid in monitoring and decision-making within microbiological fields, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and delivering better outcomes for patients, while promoting sustainability in the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n

The event took place at Senac Tiradentes unit in S\u00e3o Paulo, generously supported by their infrastructure partnership. Among the distinguished brands present at the 1st Laboratory Microbiology Indicators Forum were sponsors BD<\/a>, Sarstedt<\/a>, and Plastlabor<\/a>, highlighting their support for leading institutions in laboratory medicine.<\/p>\n
