Responsible for infecting more than 700 million people around the world, Norovirus<\/a><\/strong> requires adequate treatment to prevent the death of those infected. In this scenario, laboratories need to contribute with accurate reports to assist physicians in an efficient diagnosis.<\/p>\n

Recently, it was reported that Rio Grande do Sul \u00a0is facing an outbreak <\/strong><\/a>\u00a0of acute diarrheal disease (ADD), caused by the virus. An alert was issued by the State Department of Health (SES) this month. Two thousand people in 25 cities have already been contaminated.<\/p>\n

The laboratory routines need continuous monitoring and periodic evaluation of this follow-up, as they play a fundamental role in the main processes of detection, evaluation, response, notification and monitoring of public health events.<\/p>\n

To evaluate and evidence the reliability of reports and virus identification routines, Controllab provides the Norovirus Proficiency Testing (PT)<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 Antigen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The PT for Norovirus is recognized by ABNT NBR ISO\/IEC 17043<\/strong> and evaluates automated routines and RLT (Remote Laboratory Test) \/ POC (Point of Care). The program consists of multiple items and the evaluation is made available in an individual results report with concept and another report with a general profile of the performance of the kits reported. The profile contributes to assertive decisions about the systems adopted in routine.<\/p>\n

Proficiency Testing, also known as External Quality Control, is an effective quality control tool for determining laboratory analytical performance and a necessary requirement for laboratory accreditation processes (ISO 15189, ISO 17025, PALC-SBPC\/ML, DICQ-SBAC, etc) and regulatory bodies.<\/p>\n
