\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe correct identification of cases and serotypes of Dengue is an ally for the clinical treatment of the different forms of presentation of the disease<\/em>\r\n\r\nIn early May, Fiocruz<\/strong><\/a> announced the identification, for the first time, of a new type of dengue virus in Brazil<\/strong><\/a>. This is the cosmopolitan genotype of serotype 2, which is considered the most widespread in the world.\r\n\r\nThe dengue virus has four serotypes, listed as 1, 2, 3 and 4. Each of them can be subdivided into different genotypes. The cosmopolitan genotype is one of six serotype 2 strains of the pathogen. It is more transmissible and can cause even more severe symptoms.\r\n\r\nThe correct identification of cases and serotypes of Dengue is an ally for the clinical treatment of the different forms of presentation of the disease: asymptomatic, mild and severe, including fatal.\r\n\r\nLaboratories need to have their routines monitored to ensure the efficiency of the analysis and to provide the reliability of the results.
