Institutions use laboratory indicators and benchmarking to monitor processes and support patient safety.
More than 200 laboratories participating in Metricare were certified in 2025. The recognition highlights organizations that use laboratory indicators to track the performance of their processes.
The Metricare Certificate is issued by Controllab, with the support of the SBPC/ML – Brazilian Society of Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine, and demonstrates participation in initiatives focused on monitoring and comparing indicators among laboratories.
Laboratory indicators in routine operations
Through the Metricare platform, laboratories monitor indicators and track their evolution over time. These include: recollection (repeat sample collection), technical staff productivity, delays in result delivery, incorrect reports, average ticket, and performance in Proficiency Testing programs.
Analyzing these data allows organizations to identify improvement opportunities by comparing their results with those of other participating institutions.
Recognition and institutional positioning
The Metricare Certificate also contributes to the institutional positioning of participating laboratories by highlighting the adoption of practices focused on indicator monitoring.
This movement is aligned with regulatory guidelines in the sector, which reinforces the importance of quality management, traceability, and the comparison of indicators in laboratory services.
To support this communication, Controllab provides a dedicated page with guidelines and communication suggestions on how to use the certificate.
Participation in indicator initiatives is growing in the sector
The adoption of laboratory indicators and benchmarking practices has grown in recent years, reflecting institutions’ pursuit of greater efficiency in their processes.
In this context, initiatives like Metricare expand access to comparative data and contribute to the consolidation of indicator-based management in the sector. Learn more at www.metricare.com.br.
