Aware of the challenges and needs of the analysis laboratories, the institutions add their experiences towards the delivery of data that contribute to the improvement of the sector
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the laboratory segment has been in evidence for its indisputable diagnostic contribution that helps in measures to combat the disease. However, the volume of information required by the laboratories has increased in proportion to the need to introduce new analysis routines in the short term, adopt measures to prevent COVID-19 in the processes, implement alternatives to serve the public and measure the efficiency of these actions.
The complex environment that involves the analytical routines associated with decision making calls for solutions that simplify the analysis of information. Collecting data manually entering it into a location and applying treatment involves precious resources for the organization.
To assist in the strategic decisions of the laboratories, the SBPC/ML – Brazilian Society of Clinical Pathology/Laboratory Medicine in partnership with Controllab developed the Benchmarking and Laboratory Indicators Program (PBIL). Consequently, Matrix – the Brazilian leader in Laboratory Automation, joined the initiative and made available the success of its specialization in laboratory computerization to simplify the routine of program users.
“For a laboratory, data quality is essential for decision making. Collecting, checking and validating information periodically is routinely costly. With the integration of LIS to PBIL, the management is concentrating efforts on efficient analyzes to support the organization’s actions and strategies”, comments Luiza Bottino – Service Management Supervisor of Controllab, on the importance of this partnership for the program.
PBIL is a solution for laboratory management that promotes information for more assertive decisions, using indicators leveraged with Benchmarking to measure and compare laboratory performance with market performance.
There are more than 150 indicators correlated between multiple areas of the laboratory process. To simplify data collection and improve access to information, partner companies integrate the Laboratory Information System (LIS) with the PBIL, promoting more agility in processes and reliability in the information made available in real time.
In 2020, Matrix and Controllab had already established a partnership, envisioning improvements to the quality control routines of the laboratories. Expanding cooperation and supporting SBPC/ML demonstrates the developer’s commitment to contributing to the sustainability of the sector.
In order to share knowledge with the laboratory audience, Controllab and Matrix will hold a webinar on July 22nd. In it, the Benchmarking of Indicators as a laboratory strategy will be discussed.
“Whenever we can provide solutions that contribute to the development of the laboratory sector, through our specialty, we know we are on the right path! We are happy with the results, because, in addition to the great benefit for the Diagnostic Medicine sector, we have the commitment of these partners at all times!” concludes Silvia Yano, Matrix Marketing Manager.
